HOLD THE LINE: Kiaʻi (Protectors) hold their ground in three days of standoff and will not be moved
A group of respected kupuna (Hawaiian elders) has been holding down a sacred roadblock on Mauna Kea since the date of announced construction (July 15). On July 17, 33 were arrested. Unable to tolerate the sight of their kupuna, many in poor health, being carried away, lines of young women locked arms in protection, backed by young men.
